I have been working on the raffle quilt for the Port Saint Lucie Crazy Quilters for what seems like months. Not really, but it's been awhile! My time and stitches on the raffle quilt are donated so I kinda have to take little breaks and work on customer stuff in between all the awesomeness. More on those quilts in another post -- this one is all about the raffle quilt, and here it is -- like I said, awesomeness!
The quilt was pieced and appliqued by several PSLCQ guild members. They did a fantastic job! Here's a picture of all of us with the quilt -- it wasn't quite finished in this pic, but still amazing!
We are calling the quilt "Tropical Paradise", and it is a nice queen size, the pattern is Flowers for My Wedding Ring by Judy Niemeyer/Quiltworx. Marian picked the colors and did an awesome job with the layout.
Anyway, back to the point of a raffle quilt. You can purchase tickets for this beauty! They are $1 each and the drawing will be held February 8, 2014 (the last day of the show). Just a nice warning -- you'd better buy a lot because I plan on buying a lot and I really want to win! Info on the tickets can be found on the guild website on the 2014 Show Page here just scroll down until you see the quilt.
Hope you buy oodles of tickets and Good Luck!

PSL Crazy Quilters 2012 Show
What a show! Really, not only because it is one of the guilds to which I belong, but because it truly was an amazing show.
I would love to post every quilt and comment on all my favorites, but I would probably fill up my blog in one post and possibly crash the site (I tend to babbly on and on). So I'll give you all the wonderful links and you can view it all at your leisure.
Here is the link to the Awards -- make sure you view the entire document as it is three pages long.
And here is the Show Page, which has everything, but mainly the slideshows -- one of all the quilts, and one of the member challenges.
For more info on the PSL Crazy Quilters, please visit there website: http://www.pslcrazyquilters.com/
And here's a great pic of me, my Mom, and my Sister in my booth:
Enjoy the slideshow, and make sure you check the website for more information about our next show in 2014!

Awesome, amazing, outta' this world, I know, there just aren't enough adjectives... really, have you ever known me to exaggerate? hehehe
Okay, here's the details -- the raffle goes off on February 4, 2012 around 3:00 pm at the PSL Crazy Quilters Biennial Show. You do not need to be present to win, but you definitely can't win without a ticket! Tickets are only $1 donation, that is a small price to pay for a chance at such an amazing quilt and what better way to show support for our quilt guild. The guild will graciously ship the quilt to the lucky winner in the event shipment is required. Click here for ticket information.
For more information about the PSL Crazy Quilters, visit their website at http://www.pslcrazyquilters.com/
Here is the link for more info on their Biennial Show, "Quilting in the Garden".
In case you have forgotten what this beautiful quilt looks like, or if your new to my blog, here is "Bed of Roses":
"Bed of Roses" is our remake of the Moss Rose Quilt (1853 Susan Black Stayman). Hand applique by Marian M., Pat N., and Muriel K., trapunto and machine quilting by me, Karen Marchetti. The original quilt is part of the Spencer Collection at the Spencer Museum of Art (University of Kansas). There is also a wonderful write up on Barbara Brackman's blog. If you get a chance, check out these sites, both full of wonderful information!

Originally I had planned on quilting it very similar to the original... until, yep, you guessed, a 3 am wake up to an awesome idea. Apparently I was quilt dreaming - happens way more than I'd like to admit. But sometimes a great idea and a great quilt come together and voilĂ ... beauty is born.
After two weeks of marking, snipping away trapunto batt, quilting, unmarking, aka *working*, this beauty, the PSLCQ Raffle Quilt is quilted! And, let me tell you, it is a beauty! The bad part, tickets are not yet available... I know, I know! As I've mentioned on facebook, I will let everyone know when tickets are available, and will provide all the information on how to go about purchasing them. Until then, here is a picture of the awesome quilt:
The raffle isn't until our next show, which is February 2012, for more information on PSLCQ and also information about the show, check out their website: http://www.pslcrazyquilters.com/

Wow, it has been a busy past three days... The PSL Crazy Quilters Show has wrapped up and today is a calm day of relaxing... hah... work on the website slide show of all the quilts, realize I'm missing some... call the other photo buds I know... then a quick trip to the airport to return Mom & Sis to the stormy-snowy north... then another quick trip to drive my son to his friends super bowl party... then another quick trip home so hubby could fit in some fishing before the super bowl! So when exactly is the relaxation going to happen? Apparently it is now, during my blog posting... LOL cause if not I'd be crying!
Anyway, I must send a shout out to my friend Natalie who took Best of Show at the show... woohoo (hopefully she's not tired of hearing that)... double woohoo!!! Okay, I walked away with eight ribbons myself -- not so bad if I say so myself!
I also won First Place for the Member Challenge with this -- "Beauty of the Sea" -- my own design utilizing a bunch of stuff I learned during the week long Sharon Schamber Design and Construction retreat that I attended back in September.
She is absolutely amazing and I had so much fun making her. The finished piece is only 20" square. I am planning to make a larger piece exactly the same, well close, nothing is ever exactly the same!
Back to the PSL Crazy Quilters Show... for a list of winners click here, the slideshow is still "in progess" so once it is posted to their site I'll let everyone know! This way you can see ALL the beautiful quilts.
Okay people... thanks for following and I truly need at least an hour of peace and quiet before the super bowl starts!!! Have fun, enjoy, stay safe and sane!!!

It's been forever since my last post... sorry!! BUT, I am happy to say that the award ribbons for the PSL Crazy Quilters Show are DONE... woohoo. the show's program is done and off to the printers! Even though these items are done, it is still beyond crazy at my house! The show is less than three weeks away and I am at the point of insane... just bear with me!
Anyway, on the quilty note here is Madeline's "Around the Twist"...

PSL Crazy Quilter award ribbons are almost done! Woohoo... all 71 of them! A few more this morning and I get to check another show related item off my never-ending list! Like that one check mark is going to make a substantial difference (LOL)!
Here's the final peek... you'll have to come to the show to see them!

Bella Fiore... D O N E
Can you believe it! Like I said I have been a crazy woman trying to finish this quilt and it is done! Its still wrinkly from the dryer (ahhhh) and I haven't blocked it yet, but here's a peek at the finished quilt...
And for some strange reason it appears off-white -- must be the lighting. Once I have all the wrinkles out and the binding is on I will take it outside for some good pictures. Until then... goodnight!Friday, January 1, 2010
Bella Fiore... Day 2
Okay, I'm sure by Day 3 or 4 I'll stop counting but for now it sounded good. Okay, I've been quilting for the majority of the day and here's what I have to show you...

and I'm starting to like it better -- still not loving it, but getting there. It always starts to look better once you get rid of some of those pesky blue lines!
There's still about 2-3 hours left of work in this day... but no promises. These poor arms are tired!

Bella Fiore...
Well here it is... my latest wholecloth pattern named "Bella Fiore". Its on the frame and the background fill is started, BUT (that dreaded but)... I am not happy with how the main design is looking. We'll see, sometimes I get this "trauma" while still early in the quilting process... it may start to grow on me -- or not?

Of course, part of the "trauma" is because this is one of my entries for the PSL Crazy Quilters 2010 Show -- yep, entered on paper, but just started quilting (ahhhhh). Apparently I am just a little bit nuts.
Okay, on another note -- I hope that you all have a wonderful New Year filled with everything that is good because 2010 is going to be a fantastic year! Have fun and stay safe!

One busy week... and a Christmas too!
I can't believe it has been a full week since my last post. Shame, shame on me! Anyway, I hope all of you had wonderful holidays! But, wow, it has been so busy here. Yes, busy cleaning... you might not know this about me... I am messy, messy in the stuff all-over-cluttery way. I had to "find" our dining room table in order to have Christmas dinner. Our dining room table is the "catch-all" for any and everything that enters this house -- any item entering the house must reside there for at least 24 hours. So before we could sit at the "company's coming" table I had to find it which caused some "busy". Then of course, at least one full day of baking cookies. We kept it quite mild this year with only sugar and chocolate chip... less cookies, less calories! Yeah right - doesn't work that way! Anyway Christmas morning was wonderful -- only two electronic dilemmas, both of which resolved themselves quickly and easily. Dinner was here... my darling MIL made lasagna and brought it over, while my darling hubby smoked a ham. If you have never smelled a smoking ham, it is an amazing aroma... don't you wish we had smell-o-blog? LOL! Needless to say, it was delicious and there's still some lasagna leftovers!

Susan's Summer Wine
Here is another Summer Wine Quilt (embroideries and quilt pattern by Jenny Haskins - http://www.jennyhaskins.com/). This beauty was done by Susan -- she really did a great job!
To see a full view of this quilt, you'll have to attend the PSL Crazy Quilters Show in February!

Aquamarine... done!
It is Saturday -- Jeannie's quilt is done -- so that means I am still on schedule! Hurrah, hooray, woohoo!!! Here are a couple of final pics of Jeannie's quilt -- I think this one is going in the PSL show so you'll all be able to check it out up close soon enough!

Like I told Jeannie when she picked the quilt up... this is an awesome quilt!
Ooops, I almost forgot to let you all know... Jeannie teaches these beautiful quilts -- check out her website when you get a chance www.learnsewsimple.com

SOUTH FLORIDA FAIR!
Its almost time for the South Florida Fair... one of my family's favorites! Here is a link to their website http://www.southfloridafair.com/ make sure you click and check it out. The fair runs from January 15 - 31, 2010 and promises to be fun.
Okay, that was the shameless plug, but its true, it really is one of my family's favorites and this year I'll be entering something (not sure what, but something). Anyway, one of my customers is heading up the Community Creative Skills & Crafts division so she has asked me to send a shout out to all my other wonderful customers for some entries. You can view and download the handbook here. It contains all the information you will need, including Rules & Regulations, and also the Official Entry Form. In case you were wondering, entries are due January 2-4, 2010 and you can pick them up on February 1, 2010. Now don't you all want to win?!! Good, so get some of your awesome quilts and get them to the fair! Just a personal note here, these dates do conflict with the scheduled judging for the PSL Crazy Quilters Show; but you can always enter some of your winning entries from the PSL 2008 show since they can't be re-judged and they will still be back in time in case you want or need to show them again at the PSL Show. This is also great for all those over-achievers that have more entries than the rules allow, send the extras to the South Florida Fair!
If you need more info, you can always contact me and I'll do my best to find out, or you can contact Lorie at lorie@southfloridafair.com since she's running it, she would know the most!

Latte... done!
Wow! This is an amazingly beautiful quilt, and it is finally done (of course, we had a few dog-doctor detours). See, like I said -- a gazillion hours later...
This is only a tiny little part of the entire quilt. You'll have to wait until the PSLCQ Show - February 2010 to see the whole thing!

Oops, it's been a little while since my last post. I've been a little busy catching up! Here's a picture of Sheila's silk border
This quilt turned out great... can't wait for Sheila to see it!
Okay, at the PSLCQ Show Meeting last week I mentioned that the Member Challenge Ribbons were done -- here they are
Remember, these are only for the Member Challenge, which is Tropical Sealife, so for those members who haven't started on a challenge... get to it, look at the beautiful ribbons you could be taking home!

Prototype #2

Here's the second (and final) Award Ribbon prototype for the PSL Crazy Quilters 2010 show. I still have two more changes to make, but they are not crucial to the final idea. The tails will be made out of ribbons (of course) -- this was constructed at 6am and I wasn't about to run out for white ribbon! And also, I'm thinking multi-color rickrack around the logo square instead of the not-so-neat blanket stitch. Anyway, let me know what you think. All the ribbons will be the same, except the color of the main square will be the proper placement color, i.e., blue-first, red-second, yellow-third, and so on. The Best of Show ribbon will also be similar, it will just have more folds and layers. And the "Member Challenge" ribbons are almost done -- similar to these but a little different, just solid white. They were easiest -- only three of them! There are 55 main ribbons, and then 3 for the member challenge for a grand total of 58 ribbons! Now I need to figure out my fabric and ribbon supply needs so I can run out to the store this weekend for all the goodies. I'll be working on these next week while my Mom is here visiting. Maybe she'll want to help? Help, what a silly word... LOL!!

PSL Crazy Quilters new website
Well, Sally, our guild president, and myself have been "crowned" the webmasters for our guilds new website. It had been a "barebones" set up, but the past few days I've been updating it. It's still a "work in progress". I'm waiting on more info and pics to be added. There's a nice slideshow with most quilts from out 2008 Show, go ahead and check it out...
