Pattern with no name...

I had been working on some "smaller" patterns to offer for sale and doodled this up...

Well really I doodled it on paper first, then mirror imaged it, then put it on fabric, but you get the idea!

Super cute huh? So better than to keep it as a sample, I decided that I would use this as the Raffle table runner for MCQG since I had signed up as the raffle-maker for August. Pretty cool, but, it turned out so nicely and so many people liked it that I will definitely use it as a pattern and will have to make up another one for myself/sample.

So, I loaded it stitched my trapunto areas and spent the afternoon snipping away (thank goodness it was only a table runner). Then I got the bright idea to do shadow trapunto... hmmm, lime green or purple?

Purple wins, mainly because Vicki YELLED - lol (joke, FB followers will understand).

Started on the background quilting, and no, you really can't tell that there is purple back there. It kinda looks like a dull blah gray, which is okay, it is still beautiful and only we know it was purple, and we don't have to tell anyone!

Finished the quilting, cut to a beautiful shape, and binding is on (hand stitched, of course)... Happy August Raffle to the members of MCQG -- hope I (oops) you win! So to all you MCQG Members -- make sure you're at the August meeting!!

PSLCQ 2012 Raffle Quilt

"Bed of Roses" our remake of the Moss Rose Quilt (1853 Susan Black Stayman). Hand applique by Marian M., Pat N., and Muriel K., trapunto and machine quilting by me, Karen Marchetti. The original quilt is part of the Spencer Collection at the Spencer Museum of Art (University of Kansas). There is also a wonderful write up on Barbara Brackman's blog. If you get a chance, check out these sites, both full of wonderful information!

Originally I had planned on quilting it very similar to the original... until, yep, you guessed, a 3 am wake up to an awesome idea. Apparently I was quilt dreaming - happens way more than I'd like to admit. But sometimes a great idea and a great quilt come together and voilĂ ... beauty is born.

After two weeks of marking, snipping away trapunto batt, quilting, unmarking, aka *working*, this beauty, the PSLCQ Raffle Quilt is quilted! And, let me tell you, it is a beauty! The bad part, tickets are not yet available... I know, I know! As I've mentioned on facebook, I will let everyone know when tickets are available, and will provide all the information on how to go about purchasing them. Until then, here is a picture of the awesome quilt:

Here are some detail photos:

The raffle isn't until our next show, which is February 2012, for more information on PSLCQ and also information about the show, check out their website: http://www.pslcrazyquilters.com/

MCQ Guild Raffle Pillow for April...

Some of you will remember I designed and quilted a pillow for Martin County Quilters to be raffled in April - if not, click here. For the rest of you, continue on... well, truth be told - I am a fantastic quilter and not so bad at designing, BUT (oh no, that dreaded BUT) -- I stink at pillow construction! Not just a little stink, we're talking down right nasty reeking gut-tugging stink! Put it this way, it would look nothing like a pillow when I was done with it! So knowing this, I asked Pat P. to take my quilted fabric and make the pillow -- she did, and here it is...
I think Pat did a fabulous job -- now it is an awesome pillow - it even has piping! THANKS PAT! Hopefully April's pillow raffle will have record sales... keeping my fingers crossed!
