National Quilting Day!

Saturday was National Quilting Day and what a blast we had at the JaM Patch celebrating "Stars in Our Backyard"! Pam Post (another of our local stars) gave a great lecture on how to prepare your quilt for a longarmer and was a wealth of fantastic information. She was way organized and very informative! Then, the disorganized chaos known as me... with a trunk show in no particular order. And I am so bad at talking in front of groups, but I think I did okay. As long as everyone is talking and its more question and answers I do much better. And everyone did tell me I did a great job -- I don't think they would lie?? Anyway, here's just a few of the quilts:

And, of course, a big thanks to Joey and Margy, owners of the JaM Patch!!!

Junk in my Trunk... Quilts that is!

Saturday, March 19, 2011 is National Quilting Day and to celebrate this, the JaM Patch is featuring Quilting Stars in Our Backyard. Apparently I'm a star and I just happen to live in their backyard -- isn't that so cool!

Make sure that you're there at 2:00pm as I'll be giving a trunk show featuring none other than "Oliver", "Clouds in My Latte" (my latest competition quilt), and many more of my quilts - both show and everyday. I'll even be bringing a couple of customer quilts that are just absolutely amazing. On top of all that I'll be bringing multiple samples, just small pieces of fabric that I use to play with new stitches and try out new threads. The best part is that it will be an open forum -- questions and talking are not only welcomed, but are appreciated -- we all learn from each other!

Don't forget to save the date -- Saturday, March 19, 2011 - 2:00 pm at the JaM Patch, 932 SE Central Parkway, Stuart, FL 34997

HOPE TO SEE YOU!!!

About a week or so ago, Margy from the JaM Patch called me. She let me know that the store just received brochures for Mancuso's 2011 World Quilt Show in West Palm Beach. She was excited to tell me that Oliver was on the brochures and that I was once again famous... I listened to this message laughing because I don't feel famous, but in truth, in my little world this is BIG!

Anyway, I thought I would share the brochure with all of you -- if you are in the area definitely stop at the show, it is an awesome one! And hopefully, I'll have another winner hanging! A girl can always hope, can't she?

Black and White and Fantastic...

Here is Sally's Black and White Sampler. This was a Saturday Sampler class from the JaM Patch. This is an AWESOME quilt, I absolutely LOVE all the fabrics and the blocks are some great choices.

Here's the a close-up of the center medallion -- lots of open space for quilting... gotta love it! I had loads of fun with this quilt!!

And my most favorite part of the quilt -- the back! Yes, it is the machine quilter in me, but I love to see all the stitches -- it looks almost like a wholecloth!

Next up...

Okay, other than a quick run to the Jam Patch tomorrow morning, here is what I'll be working on for the entire weekend -- I can't wait! This top belongs to Gail, it is The Feathered Goose pattern by Judy Niemeyer and I have been drooling over it since I received it!!!

Not only is it an awesome pattern, but it is also done in what I refer to as my colors -- deep rich autumn tones!! I have such big plans for this quilt -- hopefully my sore aching body will cooperate! It's getting better, and my range of movement is improving... LOL!

Oh, before I forget, another reason why I love quilting for Gail... take a look at her piecing; its not often I'll show the backside of an unquilted top, but ladies, this is pretty close to perfect piecing if I must say so!

Jeanne's PMS Quilt

Check out Jeanne's PMS Quilt a monthly sampler from the Jam Patch. PMS stands for Patch Monthly Sampler - this is the 4th PMS Quilt I've quilted so far.

Jeanne decided to be different and set the blocks on point -- she also didn't use all the connecting blocks which gives the quilt a totally different look -- one of those simple things that amazes me! She did, however, utilize 5 varying width borders -- very nicely! She also used some really rich colors -- I hope they look as good in the picture as well as they do in person.

Okay, I know I've been promising this for a while...

Here are the other PMS quilts I've done lined up next to each other -- check out the differences colors and placement make... amazing! They belong to Madeline, Mary, and Sally.
