Family Reunion Quilt

Here is Judy's latest quilt.  Just like the title says, it is a family reunion quilt -- 35 blocks made by everyone in the family.  HOW COOL IS THAT!  I absolutely love the idea behind this quilt and was excited from day one to work on this - trying to using varying quilting styles to keep all the blocks similar but different and yet to keep the density levels balanced - fun! 

Judy emailed pictures to everyone and I'm going to use her pictures because they turned out better than mine -- I'll just blame it on really bad lighting at my house that day, okay?!! 

So here we go -- there are a lot of them.

March... over?

March is already over?  I just don't understand where time is going nor do I understand my lack of updating this blog... I have set an alarm on the phone for a weekly reminder, now I'm just hoping that I don't ignore it!

So March quilts go kind of like this:

Sally's Florida Quilt -- super duper cute!  It totally says "Florida" -- she wanted something cute and simple, I think we conquered that!  After I shipped this quilt back to Sally she sent me a note that simply said "perfect" -- that made my day!

Then on to Linda's oriental fabrics -- this is a gift for her daughter, lucky lucky!  She wanted bamboo everywhere.  Again, I think we conquered that one too.  Linda was more than happy and hopefully her daughter will be too!

 

Ellen had a kaleidoscope quilt.  I absolutely LOVE these colors -- I think grey and yellow are big this year, or maybe it's just me...  either way this quilt turned out fantastic!

Then on to Joyce's two color quilt.  Another one I LOVE.  I adore monochromatic quilts, sometimes I think it is harder to achieve awesome results when using just tones and values.  The back of her quilt looks fantastic too!



 

So that was March... I still can't believe it is April.  Sooooo many crazy things going on in my life right now, more details on the other blog.

Trying to keep up...

I promised myself that I would not let either of my blogs fall behind, so here goes:

Jan's Africa Quilt -- another beauty.  This is Jan's second (or third - not sure) Africa-themed quilt.  On this one she used place mats for the blocks -- how ingenious!  Leave it to Jan to figure out a really cool use for something that was intended for that use.   I'm sure we can look forward to more Africa-themed quilts from Jan, she's going on safari, again!

Here is Ann's black, white, and red quilt.  It is for her 7-year old grandson.  I think she did a fantastic job with this one - there is even a matching sham!

PSL Crazy Quilters 2012 Show

What a show!  Really, not only because it is one of the guilds to which I belong, but because it truly was an amazing show.

I would love to post every quilt and comment on all my favorites, but I would probably fill up my blog in one post and possibly crash the site (I tend to babbly on and on).  So I'll give you all the wonderful links and you can view it all at your leisure.

What the heck happened to January?

Catch up... my most famous saying of late.  I have no idea what happened to January.  It is gone, I would have to look through my computer to see if I actually quilted anything because I truly don't remember.  So hold on one minute... Wow!  Okay, so a few quilts happened in January, as usual, here goes the super-quick condensed version:

Hold on cause this is going to be a very long post...  Then before I even knew it... February!  My Mom and Sister flew in for our local quilt show -- cause I'm special like that!  Really, it has become a sort of tradition for them to come for the show, and let me tell you, they are the biggest helpers ever.  Here we are are Day 1 of the show:

I must say a super thank you to Theresa for taking this picture.  She snapped an aerial photo of us and let me tell you, I'm going to have her follow me around with the ladder for every photo from now on!  You just look better with an aerial photo!

Here is a photo of my ribbons from the show -- from my own quilts and also those I quilted for customers.  There is one more ribbon on the way, it needed to be ordered -- who knew that the group door challenge would take Viewer's Choice - awesome!

December in review = a quilt or two...

Finishing out December involved six quilts... wow!  Really, four of them needed to be quilted for our local show in February, the other two were for Christmas.  So here goes the super-quick condensed version.

Gail's Stepping Stones (pattern by Judy Niemeyer), and might I mention, Gail is a meticulous piecer!

Next was Nancy's "Taxi Quilt" (pattern  by Heidi Pridemore for Timeless Treasures) - the original pattern was done in yellows and grays -- I absolutely LOVE Nancy's version, and was quite tempted to tell her NOT to pick up her quilt!  Good thing she's one of my besties and this was a gift for her son...

Then on to Joan's "Sharman's Vintage Garden" (pattern by Jenny and Simon Haskins) - this quilt gave me a little bit of trouble with skipping stitches on some of the satin/silk blocks -- actually my machine had the problem, I had the headache -- all turned out well (it only slowed me down a little) and it looks beautiful!

Barbara pieced this cute sampler (from Fons & Porter 1999, I believe) -- and I quilted it, no, not in time for Christmas, but in plenty of time for the show!

Next up was Betty's "Texas" quilt -- the follow up to her amazing "Oklahoma" quilt.  This quilt

turned out super cute! 

Sorry, the "Oklahoma" quilt was pre-blog, but if you'd really, really, really like to see it, it will be at the PSL Crazy Quilters show in February -- maybe you should attend, actually a lot of the quilts I quilt will be there, along we a few of my own!

And the final quilt for 2011... Mary Lou's watercolor Triple Irish Chain - a beauty, if I do say so myself!

So there you have it, my crazy, insane, you've-got-to-be-kidding-me last few weeks of 2011.  And it's taken me a full week of 2012 to tell you about them... pfffttt... hoping that's not a forewarning of how 2012 is going to play out!
