A Day at the Beach!

Barb's raffle quilt for the Sunbonnet Sue Guild of Vero Beach is finished -- wouldn't you love to win this beauty! It is so Florida and conveys a true sense of a-day-at-the-beach, so it is aptly named!

I'm sure Barb had many wonderful ladies help her put this beauty together.  I'm pretty sure the show is in February of 2019 - you can contact Barb for ticket information.  Oh, and this beauty is a big one -- I had to fold over the top border for the picture as it was longer than my photo boards!

Some of the fabric truly led the path for my quilting -- for the shells on the inner border I traced each one adding some detail lines where necessary.  Also, the outer border where I added swirls along the fabric pattern to simulate water eddies.  The ladies choose some great fabrics for this quilt!  They didn't want the quilting super heavy -- sometimes that gets a little difficult when you're trying to create so much detail, but I think I managed okay.

Here are a bunch of detail pics:

Barbara's Quilt

Over the weekend I finished Barbara's quilt - such fun bright colors!

This was stitched using the Elevate -- Barbara wanted something super simple, the pattern used was Plumeria by Patricia Ritter, I think it worked perfectly!

Nancy's Bali Fever

Tonight I finished up Nancy's Bali Fever quilt (pattern by Quiltworx).  She wanted a simple edge-to-edge design so it was the Elevate to my rescue!

Another computerized E2E coming up later this week, and then a super amazing quilt that I can't wait to work on... you'll see them both soon!

Josephine's Knot by Helen

I just finished Helen's latest quilt.  The pattern is Josephine's Knot by Debbie Maddy.  Unfortunately, the clouds weren't cooperating and the full photo isn't perfect, don't worry though, there are some detail pics.

And, of course, a peek the back:

Kathryn's Quilts

Yay!  I have finished Kathryn's two quilts on my Elevate.  What fun!
First we have English Cats -

I just love watching quilting in action - it's almost mesmerizing!

Please don't mind the extension cords... yes, hubby is an electrician, and all I have to say is the shoemakers kids never have shoes - we'll just leave it there.

This is one of my favorite E2E patterns so far!

And then we have the construction quilt:

I apologize for this last photo -- my camera and red just don't get along.

Until next time, happy stitches!

Jan's Africa Quilt

I finished Jan's Africa quilt.  It was a lot of fun, Jan's quilts almost always are.  She incorporates many fabrics she found in Africa as well as buttons and beads, many of which are also from her safari adventures.

I think this is the fourth or fifth Africa-inspired quilt that I've quilted for her.  I try to keep each block similar but different.  On this quilt, I used a smoke colored monofilament as I wanted to be able to cut-through the sashings without distracting from the blocks.

Following are some pictures - if you'd like to see all the photos as well as video of my stitching the blocks, you can subscribe to my Patreon account (https://www.patreon.com/quiltyk) where I share videos and helpful hints/tips.  And better yet, when you sign up, you'll immediately have access to 25+ videos that are already there!
