the name... FINALLY!

Quilt with no name has been quilted and finally has a name! Yes, those that follow on facebook already know all about it, but for all my wonderful blogger fans -- quilt with no name is now "Clouds in My Latte".

It was sort of an aha moment. I had been going back and forth with all the suggestions you guys came up with. I had it narrowed down to a strange combination of a few of them, but it was working for me (in case you don't know, I'm sort of strange too). Well, I was standing there cutting my binding, ipod playing in my ears, when Carly Simon's "You're so Vain" came on. I'm cutting away, singing along and BAM... it hit me. Yep, just like that! The fabrics were called Vanilla Latte and as I was singing "...clouds in my coffee" it just seemed to fit; and no, I do not sing nearly as well as I quilt so don't ever ask me to reenact the moment!

Here she is, in all her beauty:

I would once again like to thank everyone for all the name suggestions -- you are some really good namers! I am sure I'll be tapping into those naming abilities again one day - THANKS!

Feathered Floral Fun

It's all finished - even the binding! This was a super quick quilt I made for Fil-Tec using Glide Thread and Magna-Glide bobbins. I made it for use in their booth at shows to let people see how beautiful the thread is and how it helps quilting to pop. I had a great time with this quilt -- its about 51x54. I just wish I could have spent just a little more time on it! All these amazing ideas popped up into my brain after I've started quilting it. It's like oh, I should have done this and I should have added this here... oh well, they will have to wait until the next quilt!
I got my inspiration for this quilt from Mary's wall hanging -- Thanks Mary! I just changed the flower style and added some additional flowers in smaller sizes and then quilted away -- exactly the same, just different!

Gail's Quilt

Here is another amazingly-pieced quilt by Gail -- great use of color too. She really makes my job so much easier!

Gail's only instructions were "keep it simple" and "it's an everyday quilt". I understand the keep it simple part -- that translates into only do enough to make it look wonderful. I have a problem with the everyday quilt part. Yes, it is my own personal problem I know. To me an everyday quilt needs a lot of quilting. It is going to be used everyday, and washed a lot -- hopefully, ewe that was a bad visual. Anyway, one of my personal peeves... something that is going to be used everyday needs to be stitched well in order to hold up to the use and washing. BUT, there are many people that think only show quilts need super amounts of stitching. WRONG... show quilts need super amounts of "show" stitching. Everyday quilts needs super amounts of stitching... not super dense, just super quilted! I will explain all of this in further detail in a separate post -- oooohhh, I have just given myself homework! What fun.... NOT, but I really want you all to see what happens to quilts when there isn't enough quilting. I have everyday quilts and show quilts and there is a definite difference!!! My dogs would never sleep on my show quilts! LOL... until next time, Happy Quilting!!!
