Cathy's Embroidery Quilt

It's been about two weeks since I loaded Cathy's quilt.  So let's rewind to the unquilted top... beautiful colors (purple Fairy Frost), beautiful embroideries (Hatched in Africa, I believe), all just waiting for my stitches!

This quilt was what I call a monsta' -- king size, 111 inches by 111 inches.  The original plan for this quilt had the sashing in a different color/fabric.  I am sooooooo glad that Cathy couldn't find a color that didn't detract from the embroideries.  Why?  Because once you change the sashing colors it kind of limits the quilting space -- at least this is how I feel.

So here come some awesome pictures of the quilting process:

And finally, the finished quilt:

And it is a crappy picture -- it does not do the quilt justice.  The quilt is longer than my ceilings are high, so this is the best I could do.  Cathy's Mom sure is a lucky lady, she can't wait to get the quilt... well, in between some shows!

Amish Country, Samplers, and Wildflowers

Yeah, we're getting back to a normal posting schedule.  It's only been 10 days!  WooHoo!!!

I'll start with Arlene's quilt -- great colors!  She fell in love with this store sample while shopping in Amish country.  I'm glad she chose me to quilt it!  And the best part, the solid(ish) back!  I love quilting with a solid back, you can see the quilting lines and it almost becomes a like second quilt!

Then I worked on Barbara's Sampler.  This was one of her very first quilts, not too bad!  She did a great job with the piano key border.  Again, I was spoiled with a solid back!

And last, but most certain not least, Aleta's Wildflowers embroidery quilt - a real beauty!  She used a batik on the back, but it still turned out quite impressive.

Happy Quilting until next time!

Sunflowers...

Spent all of yesterday quilting away on Merry's Sunflower Embroidery Quilt -- I just love this quilt! There is loads of stuff going on in this quilt -- mainly FUN, but also applique, embroidery, decorative stitches.

This quilt just screams "happy" doesn't it? I'm hoping Merry likes it as much as I do!!

Rozann's "Grandmother's House"

I really like this quilt, I REALLY like this quilt! It might be the black and creams... so neutral and almost calming. Or the fact that I am slowly becoming more and more obsessed with hand work. Rozann's embroidery almost reminds me of a pencil line on stark white paper - and my need to doodle and draw. All I know is that I barely have enough time in my day as it is now... but I have this sudden obsession to begin hand embroidery! WOW, just look at the work that Rozann did - amazing! Yes I know, my beginning embroidery would look nothing like this... but a girl can hope can't she? We'll see what tomorrow brings...

Here are a couple of detail photos...

Sharman's Vintage Garden... done.

Okay, Jeannie has been way too productive in her quilt making! Here is Sharman's Vintage Garden (embroideries and pattern by Jenny Haskins) -- another king size embroidered quilt! I think this one turned out great -- just a couple pics!

Jeannie will be teaching this quilt as her 2010 BOM Embroidered Quilt. Check it out here!
