Saturday's Adventure

Sally's snowball quilt done with an all-over freehand frenzy. This was finished on Saturday morning, but after a great family-time weekend, I'm just getting to posting this now.

Here's a pic of an eastern diamondback rattler that we ran into while fishing on Saturday afternoon -- he/she was a little over 5' long. Sorry its not the best picture, only had the phone available at that moment.

Wow, what a great week I've had. Got to spend some much needed time with my Mom! I also got my hair cut. I'll post a new picture soon. Okay, Mom's back up north and my life must return to a "somewhat" normal state. Back to work for me....

Here's one of the two Rotary Club Banner Quilts done for Pat Lester:

My "On Track"/IMQA Magazine Interview/Article

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. My mother has been visiting from up north and I really wanted to spend some quality time with her as she's only here for a few days. BUT, I have some great news, my interview with On Track! magazine (IMQA) has finally been printed and here it is - click on the photo and it will open larger.

Piecing Dilemma

I did some piecing this afternoon and.... I have discovered that being ambidextrous is not always a good thing! Awhile ago I had started piecing a strip quilt... put all my strips together, cut them into the squares, and then cut on the diagonal. Easy as pie, right.... WRONG, being ambidextrous, I use both hands to cut. I neglected to turn the strip squares before switching hands. The result, my squares do not line up correctly once I piece them together. Don't you just hate these kinds of days! Something that was supposed to be so simple turns out not to be!

Here are the blocks in the "proper" layout...

In this picture, the block on the left was cut incorrectly, so once pieced together it will appear to have a chevron effect instead of the intended split color square.

My only choice is leave it and say "who cares", or I can sash each block so that the chevron appearance won't be as noticable, since it only appears every so often. I'll let you know what happens with this quilt in the future -- not so sure what I'm doing with it right now.

This afternoon was "Yellow Brick Road" day, thanks again to Peggy. You may not know this, but Peggy's favorite quilt is the YBR... here are two of them -- there will be one more tomorrow!

"Simon's Folly" takes another ribbon

As some of you may have already heard, Madeline Campo's quilt "Simon's Folly" took yet another ribbon... 1st Place 2-Person Large Quilt at the Broward Quilt Expo last month. Yeah! This is the 4th ribbon for this quilt. It also took First Place Large Mixed at this year's Vero Show, Best of Show back in 2008 at the PSL Crazy Quilters Show, and took an Honorable Mention Ribbon at MQS 2008 (Machine Quilters Showcase/IMQA).

Here's Madeline with her quilt.

The blog is up!

Well, I’ve done it! I have finally decided to go with a “blog”!!! This will (hopefully) be a nice spot where my clients and friends can check up on me. I make no promises of daily updates, but will strive for at least weekly. There are just not enough hours in the day to fit in everything. I hope you enjoy your visit here at my blog.
